  The National Library of Honduras is a public institution under the Secretariat of Culture, Arts, and Sports. Its mission is to collect, catalog, classify, preserve, and disseminate all documentary production published in the country and abroad. Its founding dates back to August 27, 1880, during the administration of Marco Aurelio Soto, through an agreement of February 11, with an assigned budget of one thousand pesos.
